For the third year in a row, Caliber Collision is stepping up to heart disease by participating in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. Held every year across the country, the Heart Walk not only encourages physical activity and healthy-heart living, it also raises funds to save lives from heart-related illnesses, and Caliber is proud to help. We will be participating in the Dallas walk on September 12, putting together a team and raising funds for this worthy cause.

Our hearts are capable of incredible things, but they’re also at the center of America’s number 1 and number 5 killers: Heart disease and stroke. Many things contribute to these issues, from diet and activity level to genetics. The AHA does wonderful work not only through research, but through awareness and by educating people on lifestyle changes that can lessen their risk for these terrible issues with a list they call the “Simple 7:”

  1. Manage Blood Pressure
  2. Control Cholesterol
  3. Reduce Blood Sugar
  4. Get Active
  5. Eat Better
  6. Lose Weight
  7. Stop Smoking

These are just a few easy ways to help reduce your risk of heart-related issues. Making small changes can make a big difference in the life you lead and in your general health.

This year, one million people will participate in nearly 340 events across the country to help combat these serious illnesses, and we’re proud to be among them. We’re always told to listen to our hearts – let’s make good on that promise.
